SAVE THE DATE

We are delighted to invite our wider Denefield community; alumni, former staff, parents/carers, current families and friends of the school, to join us for a special celebration event marking 50 years of Denefield. It promises to be a warm, joyful day filled with memories, reconnections and a shared sense of pride in everything our school stands for. Whether you joined us in 1976 or 2026, there will be a place for you.
The Denefield 50 Campaign

This year marks a very special milestone in the life of our school. Denefield is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and we have spent the year looking back at five decades of learning, friendship and achievement, while also looking ahead to the future.
Through our 'From the Archives' series, we have been sharing photographs, newspaper clippings and stories from across Denefield's history. Former students have reached out to share memories, identify familiar faces and reflect on what their time at Denefield meant to them.
To see more from the series, follow us on Instagram and Facebook by clicking the buttons below. New memories are shared regularly, and we would love for you to be part of it.
Denefield 50 Fundraising campaign has brought our community together throughout the year. Together, we have begun working towards our £50,000 anniversary target and have raised £9,254 so far, supporting both enrichment opportunities for our students and our partnership with Launchpad, a local charity supporting people facing homelessness in Reading.

Introducing Our New PTFA!
We are delighted to launch the Parents, Teachers & Friends Association (PTFA) – a new community group dedicated to bringing together parents/carers, staff and friends of the school to support our students and strengthen our school community.
The PTFA will play a key role in promoting and supporting school events, helping to create memorable experiences for students and families throughout the year. From social gatherings and community celebrations to fundraising initiatives, the PTFA will help bring people together and enhance school life.
There are many ways to get involved, and we would particularly love to hear from parents and carers who are willing to help at events, whether that's assisting with planning, setting up, serving refreshments, selling tickets, or simply lending a hand on the day. Every contribution, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
Getting involved is a fantastic way to meet other families, support the school and make a positive impact on the experiences we offer our students.
If you would like to help at future events or find out more about the PTFA, please get in touch. We look forward to welcoming your support and working together to build a thriving school community.

The Sports Awards Evening was a fantastic celebration of the achievements and dedication of our young athletes. It was wonderful to see so many parents, families, and award winners in attendance, creating a brilliant atmosphere and a real sense of community throughout the evening.
We were delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Ava Kuyken, who plays for Watford FC. Ava delivered an inspiring and motivational speech, sharing her journey in football before presenting the awards to our deserving winners. Her words encouraged everyone to continue working hard and believing in themselves.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a memorable and successful celebration.

To celebrate our Attendance stars, we invited students from Year 7 to Year 10, who have worked hard on improving their attendance and reached 96 per cent and above attendance, to a celebration cake party in the canteen March 2026. The event recognised students’ commitment, consistency and positive approach to attendance throughout the term. The students were also invited to bring along a friend to this celebration. It was a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate their achievement together, and a lovely way to thank students for the effort they continue to show.

Trips and Visits
We are delighted to share just some of the exciting educational visits, outdoor adventures, and memorable experiences our pupils have enjoyed this academic year. School trips provide valuable opportunities for learning beyond the classroom, helping children develop confidence, curiosity, and lasting friendships. We hope you enjoy seeing photos from their adventures that have made these trips so special.

With a heartfelt farewell to the School Leavers of 2026 comes one of Denefield’s most cherished traditions: the annual Leavers’ Video. This year, in celebration of Denefield’s 50th anniversary, staff joined forces to create a production that captured the heart, soul—and occasional embarrassment—of life at Denefield through the decades. Led by Mr Neale, the project once again went above and beyond to give our leavers the memorable send-off they deserve. Be sure to watch the video via the link below or through our social media bio.
The Year 11 Prom and Year 13 Summer Ball were fitting celebrations of two remarkable year groups as they came together to mark the end of their journeys at Denefield. Dressed to impress and ready to make lasting memories, students enjoyed an evening of laughter, friendship, and reflection on the experiences that have shaped their school years. From the stunning arrivals to the lively dance floor, the prom and summer ball provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate achievements, look back on cherished moments, and say goodbye before embarking on exciting new adventures beyond Denefield.

Sports Day
Our annual Sports Day was a fantastic success, bringing together students and staff for a day full of energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork. The students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event, cheering on their peers and giving their best effort in every race and activity.
From the sprint races to the team challenges, there was plenty of excitement and healthy competition. It was wonderful to see so many students showing determination, resilience, and a positive attitude, regardless of the results. The atmosphere was filled with encouragement and celebration as everyone worked together to make the day memorable.
A huge thank you to all the staff who helped organise and support the event. Most importantly, well done to all of our students for their excellent participation and for making Sports Day such an enjoyable occasion for everyone involved. We are incredibly proud of you all!

Music Festival - The Hexagon
Our students were delighted to take part in the Berkshire Senior Music Festival: You’re the Voice at The Hexagon in Reading on Thursday 2 July 2026.
The event brought together secondary school students from across Berkshire to perform a vibrant selection of popular songs spanning the last 50 years. It provided a fantastic opportunity for students to perform alongside hundreds of other young singers, develop their musical skills, and participate in a large-scale musical celebration.
Singing as part of such a significant ensemble was a truly memorable experience, creating an inspiring atmosphere for both performers and audience members alike. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the event and represented the school with enthusiasm and pride.
