Welcome to Denefield
Located in the western fringes of Reading and overlooking the beautiful Thames Valley, Denefield aims to ensure that all young people develop the knowledge and values to thrive in modern life. We call this ‘success for life’ - where students use their hard work and character values to lead rich, happy and purposeful lives.
We are proud of our broad curriculum and of how hard our students work. They are fully deserving of their excellent examination results which place Denefield in the top 20% of schools nationally for both attainment and progress. We are also proud of our diverse and comprehensive extra-curricular programme Denefield offers, of the role played by student leaders and the student council and of the pastoral support and care that we provide.
We know that young people need more than academic qualifications and that a student’s character is as important as what they know and can do. Denefield focuses specifically on nine character values. Three of these are personal attributes – confidence, happiness and articulacy. Three focus on perseverance – resilience, ambition and courage. The final three focus on contributing to others – tolerance, empathy and respect. These nine character values, alongside hard work and excellent qualifications, form the foundations of success in later life.
We have high expectations of student conduct and self-discipline, and at Denefield students are taught and supported by highly qualified and dedicated staff. Our facilities are second to none, with over £9m spent in recent years on science laboratories, art and design workshops, food technology rooms and music teaching and performance spaces. Additionally, our new floodlit 3G pitch brings state of the art sports facilities to the school and local community.
