Year 7 Vocabulary

In Year 7, most of your homework will be based on quizzing yourself on the words/facts in the booklet linked at the bottom of this page. You should spend 25 minutes every day learning these words. Your tutor will check your practice book in tutor time to make sure you are doing the quizzing. You will be tested on these words in your lessons as part of the silent and solo and formally in your assessments each term.

If you are finding it hard to practise at home, we will support you in after-school sessions. There are lots of words in this book, but you can learn them all if you keep trying. Learning is not always easy but if you keep going, you will get there. Sometimes words will be repeated. This is deliberate and will make you more likely to remember them in the long term.

To be as efficient as possible, you need to focus all your attention on these words. Find a silent space to work or one that is as quiet as possible. Leave your phone in a different room.
