DofE Bronze Expedition

On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 June, 52 Year 9 students took part in their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition.

Students were split into two groups, each tackling a different route. Route 1 began at school and passed through Lower Basildon and Upper Basildon before finishing at Rushall Manor Farm. Route 2 led students through Tidmarsh, Bradfield, and Stanford Dingley. On the second day, the groups swapped routes to complete the challenge.

The weather presented a true test of resilience, with heavy downpours on Thursday followed by hot and sunny conditions on Friday. On Thursday evening, Mr E Towill visited the campsite and saw students preparing their meals on stoves, while others who arrived later were busy setting up their tents.

Throughout the expedition, students demonstrated strong teamwork and navigation skills, even managing to correct their course when they strayed off track. It was a demanding but rewarding experience, and all participants should be proud of their efforts.

Well done to everyone who took part!
