Celebrating 50 Years of Denefield

1976-2026

In 2026, Denefield School will proudly celebrate 50 years of learning, growth and excellence. For five decades, our students and staff have shaped a school built on strong character values and a belief in success for life.

To help us mark this special occasion, we want to hear from those who have been part of Denefield’s journey. Whether you or someone you know is a former student, a long-serving member of staff, or a parent with stories to share, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for memories, photos, videos, stories, achievements etc.

Big or small, every memory will help us tell the story of Denefield. Reach out to us via SAL@denefield.org.uk with your stories.

Let us celebrate Denefield together.

Denefield Events

Boxing trip to Fitzpatrick's Boxing Gym

Recently, some of our Year 8 and Year 9 students spent a brilliant day at Fitzpatrick’s Boxing Gym where they learned the value of hard work, resilience, and kindness. Our students learnt how to work together to train hard, improve their physical health, and discovered how to channel their energy in positive ways, showing respect for themselves and others. Thank you to all the coaches from Fitzpatrick’s for a fantastic experience!

West Berkshire Food Bank at Denefield

This term, Mrs N Wilcox, our Welfare Manager, has worked closely with the West Berkshire Food Bank to support Denefield families ahead of the holidays.

Thanks to her and her team's efforts, 84 boxes of food and essential groceries were packed and provided to more than 20 Denefield families. All the donations were carefully laid out in the school hall, sorted, and bagged ready for collection or delivery.

We are grateful to everyone involved in making this possible. It is a true reflection of our community values.

Announcements

Race for Life is back at Denefield!

On Wednesday 16 July, students and staff will take to the field once again to raise money for Cancer Research UK. This annual event is a much-loved part of Denefield and reflects the best of our CHARACTER values. Over the past couple of years we have managed to raise more than £40,000 and, with your support, we are hoping to go even further this year.

Students can participate in it by running, walking, cartwheeling, dancing their way across our 5km course.

This year, each house has its own fundraising page and students are required to make a donation of a minimum £2 online in advance for the non-uniform day. Please remember to include your child’s name and tutor group.

To help raise additional funds, we will be holding extra activities on the day, such as 'Beat the Keeper', ice cream sales, and a 'Splash the Teacher' stall. Students wishing to take part in any of these activities will need to bring cash on the day.

Students are encouraged to wear pink or blue—the Race for Life colours—on the day. Those wearing their own clothes must ensure their outfit is appropriate for a school day. This means no ripped jeans, crop or low-cut tops, short skirts, off-the-shoulder tops, or facial piercings.

Students are also welcome to raise additional money through sponsorships or community fundraising such as car washes or bake sales. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate our school’s CHARACTER values and make a real difference.

Langley: Denefield Race for Life 2025 - Langley House

Norcot: Denefield Race for Life 2025 - Norcot House

Let us come together, support this great cause, and make a real difference.

Waterside Centre - Berkshire Youth

We are excited to be hosting two fantastic community events at the Waterside Centre this summer, and we would love to offer local young people the opportunity to showcase their musical talents.

Waterside Centre’s Fourth Birthday Celebration

Saturday 2 August, 10.00am – 4.00pm
Waterside Centre, Newbury

Summer Fest

Saturday 16 August, 12.00pm – 6.00pm
Waterside Centre, Newbury

We are looking for solo or small group musical performers to be part of the celebrations. Due to limited space and equipment, performances must be acoustic or low-tech - we have just one amp and one microphone available. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate large groups or full bands on this occasion. To register interest or for more details, please contact Jessica.kirby@berkshireyouth.co.uk.
