Exam Season has begun!

Best of luck to all our students sitting exams this term. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, focus, and commitment.

As this is a key part of their journey towards success for life, we recognise the time and effort students have dedicated to revision and preparation. Denefield staff are here to support them throughout this period, so please reach out if needed.

Year 5 Information Evening

Year 5 pupils and their parents/carers are warmly invited to join us for an Information Evening here at Denefield.

Thursday 8 May - for Year 5 pupils currently in our catchment schools; Downsway, Long Lane, Purley and Westwood Farm.

Thursday 15 May - for Year 5 pupils currently at any other primary school.

Please join us at 6.00pm, in the Da Vinci space for an introduction to what makes Denefield an excellent school, and how we nurture and develop the children who arrive with us in Year 7 into young adults who leave in Year 11 or Year 13.

Information will be shared by both students and staff about our subjects, teaching, facilities and pastoral care - all of which give our young people 'success for life'. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentations, and we aim for the evening to end by 7.00pm.

Please note no booking is required for this.

Year 10 Virtual Parents' Evening

Save the date for our upcoming Year 10 Parents’ Evening. More information on how to register will be shared with parents/carers soon. Keep an eye out.

Supporting Children in a Digital Age

The recent Netflix drama 'Adolescence' has received wide attention for its portrayal of social media pressure, harmful male stereotypes and mental health struggles among young people.

While we do not plan to show the episodes in school, we recognise that it has prompted questions from many parents/carers about how to guide their children safely online.

At Denefield, our Success for Life programme explicitly covers these topics, though learning is most effective when we work in partnership with parents/carers to teach young people about addictive content and harmful ideology.

We are happy to share a helpful resource from the online safeguarding company Smoothwall. Smoothwall has developed free, well-presented resources to help families respond to themes raised in 'Adolescence.'

Explore the resources here: Navigating Child Digital Safety | Insights From Netflix’s Adolescence

Please note: Denefield does not benefit financially from sharing this content.

We hope you find these materials useful as we continue working together to keep our young people safe online.
