Club of the week

The club of the week is GreenPower. GreenPower is a program where students design and build electric cars to race against teams from across the country, including private schools and clubs. It is a fantastic way for students to develop teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving skills. It runs every Friday after school from 3.00pm to 4.30pm in the Design Tech room.

To join the club, students can meet Miss T Simpson in the Design Tech room on Fridays after school.

Denefield School Show - High School Musical

This year Denefield’s production of High School Musical was a huge success, with three sold-out shows and an incredible response from the audience. Over three days, our talented cast and crew brought the energy and excitement of East High to life, delivering fantastic performances filled with music, dance, and school spirit.

A huge well done to all the students and staff who worked both on stage and behind the scenes to make this show possible. Thank you to everyone who came to support—we could not have done it without you.

You can see more photos and read all about the show in our end-of-term Newsletter, which will be shared on Friday 4 April 2025.

Year 12 Maths Inspiration visit to The Hexagon

Recently, our Year 12 students attended the Maths Inspiration event at The Hexagon. This engaging show featured talks from leading mathematicians, exploring how maths shapes the world around us.

The event provided a fresh perspective on how maths extends beyond the classroom, inspiring students to think differently about the subject.

VIP Breakfast

Recently, more than 100 students from Year 10 and Year 11, with a large number of house achievement points, were treated to a VIP breakfast attended by members of the House Team and Senior Leadership Team, including our Headteacher, Mr E Towill.

Mr E Towill and Mr A Beard gave a short speech to thank all of our fantastic students for all their efforts this year, in getting it right day in, day out.

There was a lovely atmosphere and all the students had a great start to their day.

This week in Kids College

Kids College is a fantastic program that gives Year 5 and Year 6 students a taste of secondary school life. Each week, they take part in fun, hands-on activities, building skills and confidence for the future. Denefield hosts Kids College every Autumn, Spring and Summer terms for five weeks. For more details please contact Mrs J Jackson, Transition and Careers Lead via jjn@denefield.org.uk

Can cook, Will Cook

Our young talented chefs put their skills to the test this week. One group baked a classic Victoria sponge, mastering the art of a light and fluffy cake, while the other created deliciously warm apple crumbles—perfect for a cosy treat.

Silly Clay Creatures

The little artists started shaping their silly creatures out of clay, bringing their fun drawings to life. This project will continue over the next few weeks.

Secrets of Science

Our young scientists explored the fascinating world of science by doing an experiment called candy chromatography this week. Through a colourful experiment, they uncovered the hidden dyes in sweets and learned how different pigments separate.
