Denefield Open Evening 2026
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for Open Evening on Wednesday, 16 September. It was lovely to see so many curious and excited faces.
Our Head Students opened the evening with a speech. Sian spoke first about their experience of becoming the head student at Denefield, followed by Mr Towill, who explained our motto, "Success for Life", and what it means for our students. Three of our newest Year 7 students, Shaylan, Martha and Cosette, talked about their first weeks at Denefield, giving families a true insight into student life. Lucy, our other Head Student, closed the speeches, sharing her journey from a shy student to a confident Head Student now comfortable speaking in front of an audience.
Families were then guided around the school by our Year 12 and Year 8 students, taking in a range of activities along the way. The tour included the sports hall, where visitors could try out a range of sports activities, a maths murder-mystery puzzle, a languages showcase from MFL, and a collaborative story in the library by the English department, where visitors added their own line to see what happens next. The Art department displayed student paintings and set up a colouring station for younger visitors to try their hand at art. In Film studies, there was a live green screen in which visitors could try on Denefield jerseys and pose in the live reel (reel will be shared on Instagram shortly).
Additionally, visitors tried hands-on experiments in Science department, live food cooking and 3D printing in Design and Technology, enjoyed music performances and a look at our new music studios in Music department, and map reading and exploring different religions in the Humanities. There was a Greenpower car display, where visitors could try the cars for themselves. Visitors also enjoyed tasters from the school canteen menu.
