Local Roadworks - Please Plan Ahead

Roadworks are currently taking place in the local area and are causing delays on some routes to school. We ask that parents/carers factor this into their journey times to ensure students arrive on time and ready to learn.

Thank you for your continued support.

Denefield Alumni - We want to hear from you!

Denefield turns 50 this year and we are looking for YOU!

If you were ever a student or staff member at Denefield, we want to hear from you. We are building an alumni community and would love you to be part of it.

There are loads of ways to get involved: attend the 50th anniversary event, share your old school photos and memories, or simply stay in touch with what is happening at the school.

It takes about a minute to sign up - https://eu.jotform.com/261032516436046

If you have some photos or stories to share, please send them to us via sal@denefield.org.uk.

Reading Mini Marathon

Back in March, five of our students took part in the Green Park Reading Mini Marathon on Sunday 22 March, completing the 3km route alongside thousands of runners in one of the UK's most celebrated race events.

We are incredibly proud to share that our U13 girls: Erin M., Cora H., and Rebeca R. claimed first place in the U13 Girls team category. Erin also earned second place individually in the F12 (under-13 girls aged 12) category, a fantastic personal achievement.

Then this week on 20 April, our girls were presented with their awards by none other than Sir John Madejski — philanthropist, entrepreneur, and one of the most influential figures Reading has ever known. A man who has given so much to this town, handing an award to these three talented young girls.

Well done also to Jay G. and Victor R. for representing Denefield with real pride and determination.

What an incredible group of young people, we are so proud of you all. This is what success for life looks like.

Year 5 Information Evening

Year 5 pupils and their parents/carers are warmly invited to join us for an Information Evening here at Denefield.
Thursday 7 May, 6.00pm to 7.00pm for Year 5 children currently attending Long Lane Primary School, Downsway Primary School, Westwood Farm Junior School and Purley C of E Primary School.

Thursday 14 May, 6.00pm to 7.00pm for Year 5 children currently attending any other primary school.

You can join us in the Da Vinci space at Denefield for our Information Evening. Mr Towill will explain about what makes Denefield the excellent school it is today, and how we nurture and develop the children who arrive with us in Year 7 into young adults who leave us in Year 11 or Year 13.

You will also hear from staff and students and find out about our subjects, teaching, facilities and pastoral care – all of which give our young people ‘success for life.’ You will learn about our transition and induction processes, which ensure that when students arrive with us in Year 7, they are happy and confident in their new school.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentations, and we aim for the evenings to end by 7.00pm. We hope you can join us on the relevant evening above, and we look forward to having the opportunity to speak to you. Please note, no booking is required for this event.

Save the date

Save the date for our upcoming Virtual Parents' Evenings. More information on how to register for the evening will be shared soon.

This includes potential age restrictions on social media and other services such as gaming sites and AI chatbots, restrictions on addictive design features and risky functionalities, and better support for parents and families.
