Denefield Sixth Form Open Evening

We are looking forward to welcoming students and families to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 20 November, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm.

The evening will begin with a welcome talk by Mr Peacock, Head of Sixth Form, in the main hall at 5.00pm. After the talk, visitors will have the chance to meet our staff and current students to find out more about the wide range of A Level and BTEC subjects we offer.

Our friendly staff and students will be on hand from 4.45pm at main reception to greet visitors, hand out maps, and guide them through our subject marketplace.

We encourage all visitors to view our Sixth Form Prospectus before attending to learn more about what makes Denefield Sixth Form unique.

Club of the Week

This week the Crochet Club welcomed Mrs Hawkins, a parent volunteer, who joined the club to show students the basics and help them start some brilliant designs. Thank you, Mrs Hawkins!

Whether an expert or a complete beginner, students from all year groups are welcome to come and get creative in the Crochet Club, which runs every Monday during lunchtime in room A203.

Supplies are provided, or the students can bring their own. Students interested in joining the club can meet Mrs R Williams in room A203.

We have many more exciting extra-curricular clubs. Click the button below to see the timetable.

Celebrating 50 Years of Denefield 1976-2026

In 2026, Denefield School will proudly celebrate 50 years of learning, growth and excellence. For five decades, our students and staff have shaped a school built on strong character values and a belief in success for life.

To help us mark this special occasion, we want to hear from those who have been part of Denefield’s journey. Whether you or someone you know is a former student, a long-serving member of staff, or a parent with stories to share, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for memories, photos, videos, stories, achievements etc.

Big or small, every memory will help us tell the story of Denefield. Reach out to us via SAL@denefield.org.uk with your stories.

Let us celebrate Denefield together.

Denefield Events

Denefield Remembrance Day Service

Denefield staff and students gathered on Tuesday 11 November, for a heartfelt Remembrance Day Service, observing two minutes silence to honour those who have served and given their lives for our freedom.

Our Headteacher, Mr Towill, addressed the school with words of reflection and gratitude, followed by a moving recital of In Flanders Fields by the Deputy Head Student, Phoebe H. The Last Post was played beautifully, filling the school with a sense of stillness and respect. One student from each house laid a wreath as a symbol of remembrance, representing our shared gratitude for those who gave their lives in service.

The occasion highlighted the importance of unity and reflection within our community, reminding us of the courage and selflessness that protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

Sixth Form Garden by Mend the Gap

We are delighted to share that Denefield has received a generous grant from the Mend the Gap programme to develop a new Sixth Form Garden.

The project aims to transform an unused area of our grounds into a green, sustainable space where students can relax, study and connect with nature. Our Sixth Formers have already begun digging and planting, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork as they help shape this new addition to the school.

Funded through Mend the Gap, a programme supporting projects that enhance landscapes along the Great Western Main Line, this garden will not only improve our school environment but also contribute to local biodiversity and wellbeing.

Taekwondo Success for Denefield Students

We are very proud to share some fantastic news from the UK Open Taekwondo competition, held on 8 and 9 November with 430 competitors from across the UK and Europe.

Saiba won a gold medal in her sparring category, and Samar achieved a bronze medal. Both students faced challenging fights and progressed through knock-out stages to secure their places in the final rounds.

This is an excellent achievement and a proud moment for Denefield, reflecting the commitment and resilience we promote across our school community.

We are always pleased to celebrate student success and achievements outside school, so please feel free to share these with us via SAL@denefield.org.uk.

Help needed for our School Show

Our Creative and Performing Arts faculty is busy preparing for this year's school show, and we are looking for support from our community.

If you are a scaffolder who could help us with part of our set design, or you are skilled in woodwork and would enjoy helping to build our stage piece, we would love to hear from you.

Although we have a limited budget, we will be happy to recognise your contribution and promote your business in our show programme.

If you are interested or know someone who might be able to help, please contact Mr Shaw at shw@denefield.org.uk.
