Reminder about drop-off safety

Please take extra care when dropping off and picking up students outside school. The road can become very busy at these times, and we ask all drivers to be especially cautious to help keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your support in making the area around our school safer for all.

Extra-curricular Clubs

We are excited to share that our extra-curricular clubs will be starting again from next week. This is a great opportunity for students to get involved, try something new, or continue with the activities they enjoy.

The clubs offer a wide variety of activities, from creative arts and sports to technology, debate and performance – so there really is something for everyone. Lunchtime clubs usually run from 1.00pm to 1.30pm, while after-school clubs take place between 3.00pm and 4.30pm (unless otherwise stated).

Please encourage your child to join in, as many clubs are open to all year groups, and we would love to see as many students involved as possible.

The Great Denefield Bake Off Challenge – Final Round

We had 14 brilliant entries in Round 1 of the Great Denefield Bake Off, with students representing their culture or identity through baking.

Congratulations to the following students who made it through to the final:

  • Elodie G. (Year 11)

  • Ruby O. (Year 9)

  • Eloise W-J. (Year 8)

  • Thea C. (Year 8)

  • Lottie V. (Year 8)

  • Ruhi J. (Year 8)

  • Emily T. (Year 7)

  • Millie S. (Year 7)

Finalists should collect their recipe and instructions from Mrs E Gough in the Design and Technology office.

Well done also to the remaining students whose entries impressed the judges and who earned house points for their efforts: William O., Veronika I., Dija O., Alixia-May, Lui M-L., Louis S. and Ava-Grace M.

The grand final will take place on Wednesday 8 October in P206. This year’s theme is Denefield’s 50th birthday, and the finalists will bake and decorate a birthday cake using a set recipe. Judges will be looking at creativity, flavour, texture and presentation before crowning the 2025 Bake Off champion.

Good luck to all our finalists, we cannot wait to see your showstopping designs!

Celebrating 50 Years of Denefield 1976-2026

In 2026, Denefield School will proudly celebrate 50 years of learning, growth and excellence. For five decades, our students and staff have shaped a school built on strong character values and a belief in success for life.

To help us mark this special occasion, we want to hear from those who have been part of Denefield’s journey. Whether you or someone you know is a former student, a long-serving member of staff, or a parent with stories to share, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for memories, photos, videos, stories, achievements etc.

Big or small, every memory will help us tell the story of Denefield. Reach out to us via SAL@denefield.org.uk with your stories.

Let us celebrate Denefield together.

Denefield Culture Day Showcase

This week, we held our annual Culture Day, a wonderful celebration of diversity and community at Denefield. The day was full of colour, music and flavour, with students and staff showcasing traditions, food and customs from around the world.

At lunchtime, our canteen, managed by Harrison catering, offered dishes from around the world, including food from Italy, Indonesia, China, Belgium, America and India. This gave students the chance to enjoy new tastes and experience global cuisine right here at school.

During the tutor time after lunch, students and staff took part in a fashion show, proudly showcasing clothing from their cultures and sharing the meaning behind their outfits. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the diversity within our school community. To watch the fashion show on Instagram, please click on the button below.

Watch the Reel

The celebrations continued into the evening with the Culture Day Showcase in the canteen, which was open to the public. Families, friends and members of the community joined us, and the event was buzzing with activity from start to finish.

Stalls represented the United Kingdom, Jamaica, South Africa, Kenya, Thailand, China, Nigeria, Poland, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Italy, India, Ireland, Romania, England, Yorkshire, Malaysia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, Wales, St Helena, Brazil, Barbados, Benin, Ukraine and Tanzania.

Each stall had something unique to offer — from food and traditional items to interactive activities such as crochet, face painting, henna, motor sports, cultural games, flags and trains. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, reflecting the creativity, pride and generosity of our community.

This Culture Day was a wonderful way to start the year, bringing our school and wider community together in celebration. We look forward to building on this energy as the year continues.
