Denefield upcoming events

Denefield Open Evening

We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Open Evening on Wednesday 17 September 2025, 4.00pm to 7.00pm. If you have booked a place, your booking is confirmed, and you are all set to attend. The evening will include guided tours led by our student ambassadors, the chance to explore our departments, and a talk from the Headteacher.

Please note that the bookings are now fully allocated. If you were not able to book, you are still welcome to come along. While the Headteacher’s talk and guided tours are reserved for booked families, you can walk through the school, meet staff and students, and have a look at our facilities at your own pace.

There will also be further opportunities to visit Denefield through our upcoming day tours. Details of the tours will be shared soon on our website and social media.

Denefield Culture Day 2025

We are excited to announce that Denefield will be holding a Culture Day on Thursday 2 October 2025, organised in collaboration with our Sixth Form Culture Committee. This will be a celebration of the diversity, identity and creativity within our school community.

During the day, students can take part in a Non-Uniform Day by wearing clothing that reflects their personal, religious or national culture or identity. Clothing should be appropriate and respectful, in line with our school values. A £2 contribution is requested, with funds shared between a chosen charity and improvements to the school environment.

In the evening, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, everyone is welcome to attend our Culture Day Showcase. This event will feature music, food, games, and a fashion show celebrating traditional and modern dresses from around the world.

Admission is free, and we hope to see as many families as possible. Please join us at Denefield to celebrate culture, identity and diversity.

If you have any queries or would like to support the event, please reach out to our Head of Success for Life, Ms L McKay at LMY@denefield.org.uk.

The Great Bake-Off Challenge 2025

The Great Denefield Bake Off is back and is open to all students in Years 7 to 11, with plenty of house points to be won.

As we celebrate Culture Day on Thursday 2 October, our first round is all about culture. For Round One, students are challenged to bake six cupcakes – either all the same simple flavour or a mix of flavours – and then decorate them to show their culture, identity, or traditions. Decorations could use colours, patterns, or symbols that reflect who you are and what culture means to you.

Entries are due by Monday 29 September at 3.10pm in the Design and Technology Office next to M106.
The eight best entries will go through to the final round on Wednesday 8 October.

We are excited to see the creativity, pride and celebration of culture that our students will bring to this year’s Bake Off.

Getting started with Educake

This week, Mr J Neale, our Head of Film Studies of the English and Film Faculty, has created a short video guide to help students get started with Educake.

Educake is a fantastic system which allows teachers of the English and Science faculties to monitor extended learning completed at home. Topics will aim to cover content being delivered in school, recap subject-specific vocabulary and also challenge our students with some new ideas.

Each week, Educake quizzes are due, with a minimum pass mark of 60% being required in English, and 70% in Science. Students should proudly strive for 100% at all times for their own motivation (and for those house point awards!).

The video explains how to log in, complete quizzes, and track progress, giving a clear picture of what teachers see too.

If you face any issues with logins or problems with the quizzes themselves, please speak to your English or Science teacher in enough time before the deadline. You can also email office@denefield.org.uk for login issues specifically.

Celebrating 50 Years of Denefield 1976-2026

In 2026, Denefield School will proudly celebrate 50 years of learning, growth and excellence. For five decades, our students and staff have shaped a school built on strong character values and a belief in success for life.

To help us mark this special occasion, we want to hear from those who have been part of Denefield’s journey. Whether you or someone you know is a former student, a long-serving member of staff, or a parent with stories to share, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for memories, photos, videos, stories, achievements etc.

Big or small, every memory will help us tell the story of Denefield. Reach out to us via SAL@denefield.org.uk with your stories.

Let us celebrate Denefield together.
