'Selecting the right training course for me was really challenging because there are different routes into teaching and many different providers. Once I had visited Denefield, I knew that Denefield School/Berkshire Teaching Alliance was the best choice for me. The selection process was clearly designed to look for my potential as a trainee teacher. The course has inspired me, nurtured me and enabled me to develop my potential. The Denefield training programme is outstanding because it is structured to ensure that all participants are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to design lessons that impact students’ learning successfully and ensure all of our students meet their potential.'

We have the experience and capacity within our alliance to deliver the highest quality training and as a Teacher Training provider, we know that it is a privilege to be able to train the next generation of outstanding teachers. We work in partnership with Oxford Brookes University which has an excellent track record of initial teacher training success.
Our Training Package
Our training programme focuses on how to teach and communicate effectively with young people, giving you the tools that you need to do the job to an exceptionally high standard. Our training programme is practical and innovative, with interactive learning sessions delivered to you by excellent teachers in our organisation. Excellent teachers who are current practitioners teaching successfully in our school every day. Our programme uses the most cutting edge educational evidence to show you how to have the maximum learning impact upon the students in your classes and effectively manage learning behaviours to ensure students are a success.
Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses
These courses are available to the right candidate to support gaps in subject knowledge that will support the successful development of a trainee. In most cases, funding is available through the Department for Education to pay the fees for these courses.
If you complete the course successfully, you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) if you elect for this element of the course.
We are committed to training the best teachers – for Berkshire as well as for our organisation. Our recruitment is based on our potential to employ teachers in our organisation and our partner schools. While we cannot guarantee that teaching position will become available in our organisation, each year a significant number of our trainees gain jobs with us.
Continued Professional Development
Denefield School/Berkshire Teaching Alliance trains teachers at all stages of their career. Through our NQT programme we support trainees who gain jobs in our partner schools in their first years of teaching and we continue to offer support in their development as outstanding practitioners for as long as they teach in our alliance schools. This includes middle leadership and senior leadership training.
Training is offered in both primary and secondary settings.
