About Us Denefield IT Support are responsible for the support, maintenance, administration, and development of the school's IT, Data and AV infrastructure. Day to day IT support is provided to the school by RM, an external IT support provider. The Senior IT Technician is employed by RM and he is supported by a back office team off site.
Denefield has a large and complex IT network, with a high ratio of devices to users.
The school has the following IT facilities for staff and students:
Local Area Network and Internet All computers in the school are networked. Access to the network and various other systems is provided through individual usernames and passwords. These computers have managed internet access provided through a 100Mb connection with a 80Mb fail over backup line for constant availability.
The internet can be an unsafe environment for students to explore. Whilst we encourage the use of some internet site, such as our use of Show My Homework and My Maths, we also take steps to prevent students from endangering themselves and others. We use intelligent filtering to censor which sites the students can access. All staff and students are required to sign an Acceptable Use policy before they are allowed access to the school network and internet.
RM Unify RM Unify provides a single sign-on access point to many online resources, Email and other Microsoft systems.
Email - all pupils (coming soon) and staff have their own email address. Staff and pupils use their school login to access their email and other school resources that have been made available to them.
Microsoft Office - staff and students, while working or studying at Denefield are allowed to have a full copy of Microsoft Office on their home PC for school or personal use. This will cease to work on leaving the school (although the documents are yours to keep). Please see Mr Hamilton about this service.
OneDrive - staff and students are encouraged to save a copy of their work on their OneDrive, a secure, cloud based storage system. These documents can then be accessed at home, on phones and tablets, or while in another part of the world!
Faults and Repairs If something doesn't work properly then it should be reported to the IT Support staff. The preferred method for problems is via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by filling in a support request on the Intranet. Much of our equipment is covered by a 3-year warranty so it is important that all faults are reported quickly. Most repairs will be carried out within school
