We are committed to ensuring that Denefield School is a safe space for all students, regardless of ethnicity, race, gender or sexual identity. Our CHARACTER values encourage students and staff alike to demonstrate empathy, respect and tolerance towards their peers, and to stand up to injustice whenever possible. In 2020, we have encouraged our students to reflect on the part they play in making Denefield and the wider community around them a safer and more accepting place for everyone. In February, a group of enthusiastic Sixth Form students led assemblies and organised tutor-time activities around LGBTQ+ History Month. In June, in honour of Pride Month, we asked students to submit works of art around the theme of the Stonewall Uprising and the ways in which the rights of LGBTQ+ people have evolved and improved over time. We will continue to champion diversity and celebrate differences, and to ensure Denefield School is a place where everyone is accepted without exception, and so we are delighted that we are now a Stonewall School Champion.
