Students follow a broad and balanced curriculum which includes the core subjects of English, maths, science, CHARACTER values and PE as well as humanities (geography, history, and religious studies), design & technology, art, drama, music and information technology. All students will also study a modern foreign language, either Spanish, French or German. There are opportunities for withdrawal from normal lessons for fixed periods of time for intensive tuition in literacy, numeracy and other necessary skills for students’ development.

Students are taught in mixed ability groups until October half term. Ability groups are then determined using CATs scores, prior attainment, internal and external assessment data in order to asure students continue to be taught in appropriate groups. Curriculum and subject leaders regularly review groupings following assessments and at progress meetings.
