I don’t think I can possibly sell Sixth Form at Denefield enough. As someone who has come up through Denefield since Year 7, and been active within the Denefield community since then, it is easy for me to distinguish the large differences between the way Sixth Form functions as oppose to lower school.
In Sixth Form at Denefield you have more control over your school life, with less lessons than before you have more time to put into studying your chosen A Level subjects and socialising with friends. Such things can be done in the designated Sixth Form areas like the study room (kitted out with computers and sufficient space for independent study), the common room (furnished with comfortable seating and containing a fridge, kettle and microwave) and hopefully, as soon as things start going back to normal, the Sixth Form areas in the canteen and library will be opening back for Sixth Form use exclusively. On top of the Sixth Form facilities there are also excellent opportunities to further your own education and skills. From sporting opportunities to increased involvement with younger years (when things get back to some established normalcy) and chances to partake in a vast variety of leadership roles it is possible to spend your time at Denefield Sixth Form furthering and developing skills that are applicable to most, if not every, career path.
Speaking of career paths, there is also great support in place from teachers, staff and online programmes (eg Unifrog) to help any student achieve their goals, whether that be a place at university, an apprenticeship or going straight into the workplace. Another advantage of attending Denefield Sixth Form is the teaching. With a variety of subjects, some familiar and some new, and excellent teaching from knowledgeable teachers, every student can achieve their desired A Level grades while also enjoying the experience and subjects they take.
These are just some of the reasons that make Denefield an excellent environment for both study and social aspects expected from Sixth Form life. Denefield was by far my first choice of Sixth Form, and it should be yours.
Jake Hill - Head Boy
Being a student at Denefield for the past six years has most definitely been a positive experience for me. I joined in Year 7 and throughout those years in the lower school, I was always encouraged to do my best and push myself. Without this support from the school, I wouldn’t be in the position I am; current Head Girl and looking to go to university with aspirations of studying Sports Science and Therapy. The Sixth Form here has always been a really enjoyable environment and all our teachers ensure we are given not only the best education, but also the best life skills we need for whichever future pathway we choose to follow. In the past year I have continued to play netball for the school whilst also being able to attend multiple trips and events which helped me to further develop both my social and educational access. Sixth Form at Denefield is truly about striving to develop us as young adults and, without a doubt, I would recommend it to anyone considering a place here.
