Poem of the month
Marie Curie
She is Marie Curie,
Created a whirlpool of knowledge,
A daughter of two teaching masterpieces,
Created a whirlpool of knowledge,
A wise owl in the laboratory, cool, calm, and clever,
Created a whirlpool of knowledge,
A soft breeze on a winter’s morning, changing the medical world – forever,
Created a whirlpool of knowledge,
She changed medical history forever, forever, forever,
Created a whirlpool of knowledge,

Wrestling
Your ring is the house that I built,
The slamming canvas is my own sweet nectar,
For all that fall, I am the one to rise,
To build a fortress with 24-inch pythons …
They slam me down but my heart pounces,
Beating, pounding, thumping. This is who I am.
The crowd are my people, I am their servant.
This is my own world, my own spandex-filled reality.
For those that judge the world I believe,
I shun the outside war. I have my own.
Without the haters, the sheep, countless vermin …
I would not strive to achieve.

Fight of the Night
They called him the great Mohammed Ali,
Swung from the right and uppercut from the left,
And knocked the lights out of his opponent.
They called him the great Mohammed Ali,
He was fast and agile,
And made his opponent’s lip split.

My love, to me you’re everything,
Your skin’s so spicy, soft and sweet,
Your smell’s so perfect it knocks me off my feet,
My love, to me you’re everything,
When I see you, my stomach just aches,
Just can’t wait for you to be on my plate,
My love to me you’re everything,
Your skin’s so soft and sweet.

Whatever my eyes can see,
My heart can feel.
That’s why I believe in love.
Knowing my eyes can see,
As sure as the deep blue sea,
That’s why I believe in love – in love.
You bless me with an everlasting smile,
Gotta give thanks for the way you touch my life.

Love Poem
Every night I sit alone, so alone,
I stare into the blackened sky,
Emptiness consumes me,
It almost makes me want to break down and cry.
But I have to stay strong,
Because it won’t be long
Before she’s finally here,
When there’s nothing to fear.
Searching for that one glimmer of light
That one star
She’s the one who shines so bright
I know that we could be so right
So for her I will grit my teeth and put up a fight.

Sarah – a triolet by Nick Shaw
My one and only, forever.
You always keep my heart beating
Never let our heart beat sever,
My one and only, forever
I can’t live without you, never.
When I’m cold you are my heating
My one and only, forever
You always keep my heart beating
Mum
My love is unconditional,
I’d be lost without your support,
You’d catch me if I were to fall,
My love is unconditional,
I’d always pick up when you call,
You will always be in my thoughts,
My love is unconditional,
I’d be lost without your support.

War Poem
Clothes soaked with blood
As he breathes he gurgles blood
He lays in the shadow cast by a wall of stone
Eyes wide with fright, his brothers by his side
He quietly prays as he slowly dies
As blood drains from his body colour leaves his face
They hold him so he doesn’t die alone
They hold him until they have to bag him to send him home
Tears leave streaks down a dirty face
With the utmost care they zip up the big black bag
And wrap his body in an American flag
A hero is going home.

View on War
Very destructive
I don’t know how they survive
Evil
Wicked
Omens
Never forgotten
Wonderful as they make it sound? No!
And lost lives
Ruined. Everything lost forever.

Romeo and Juliet Rap
My name is Romeo
I have two homies yo
I jam with Mercutio
And the same with Benvolio
(Change beat)
Here comes Tybalt
So I draw for my jolt
And what to do
You better run
Before I call my crew
Try chat to me
Chat
You chat do do
That guy called me a villainy
Shut your mouth
Don’t speak to me
Don’t make me go on my killing spree
Turn around before I slap thee
I don’t want to fight
Since this day
I’ve always been bright
You know I'm right
Let’s just bring the peace
Did you know I just married your niece
She’s always been the love of my life
So now I’ve just made her my wife
Tybalt says turn and draw
The fight’s gonna be blood and gore
Tybalt you rat catcher
Will you walk will you talk
I get between you
This is about me and you
Tybalt does it in a blink of an eye
And then I watch helplessly whilst Mercutio dies
Why did he curse both our families
There is no way around this tragedy
Now we must fight
Even though it’s not right
Tybalt take the villain again
I stab you and that is the end.

Charlie Simpson’s younger sister
All of my life I have always wanted to be just like you
playing your guitar perfectly while I would listen through the door.
Every time I heard your voice my thoughts lifted
my hopes raised there was a magic feeling inside me.
All of the songs you sang fitted perfectly with who you are
like a key and a million locks.
As you became more and more famous
I began to lose more and more contact with you.
I could have told you Charlie
This world was never meant to be as perfect as you.
My best friend
My best friend
You are loved by me
And I will never leave you
I want to stay by you forever
You stick up for me
And I will stick up for you
I remember the time we first went
To the ice skating, skiing, sliding
Ring
Around and around we
went dancing to the music
As we were talking about our futures
But I can tell it will be great
We will stay by each other
Like flowers standing there
Looking after their friends
Thank you best friend!

My brother
You came into my life
and I didn’t want you to
until I saw your face for the first time
and then you turned to the terrible twos.
You are evil like a beast.
You box like a kangaroo,
You bite my hand as if you
Are biting into a hamburger
You slap like a fish in the sea.
But whatever you do to me
I still love you
because you are my brother.
Anon
No longer loved!
My love for you is no more
Thrown away like tissues
One day to another you didn’t care
Not one word out of your pink lips spoke
My love for you is no more
Went dancing but one light
And others on their own
You never treated me right
You don’t know what it feels like
Not to be loved or not cared for
But I still hang on to the one person
That treats me right
Myself
I don’t need love!
Rebecca Harding
Why did you go?
I know you care for me, I care for you too
But not what you did to me a few days ago
You’re like a distant memory so soon
Why did you go?
I know you care for me, I care for you too
What you drink without a care
I can’t control you it makes me scared
Why do you do it?
I know you care for me, I care for you too
I remember that time you catching me down
That slippery slide. I was happy then,
Why did you save me?
I know you care for me, I care for you too
Why did you go?
